Steps to Avoid Phishing trap & scams

avoid phishing, tips phishing, stop phishing, phishing problems, tricky tricks

I have been trying from many days to write on this topic and luckily today the day has come.

Well let's come to the point first of all what is phishing ?
Simply telling phishing is a technique in which the bad guys(bad computer experts) fool the good people through the use of internet. Showing themselves
as a trusted person or an organisation.
In which the people himself make the payment or himself give their account number & password or some other way give up their information due to which the money in their bank accounts is all vanished and thus result in a phishing scam.

Many new people try out the internet for the first time daily and many might be not knowing about it and I am not also telling about those old user they might even not know about it.
There was a research done North Carolina State University, they asked a group of 53 undergraduates to distinguish between malicious emails from real trusted ones,
and nearly everyone in the group failed. Keep in mind that these were students, meaning that they were likely young Internet expert users. So it can happen
to anyone

Here are some tips which might save you.

1. DON'T CLICK ON LINKS FROM THE PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW.
Many time companies sells your data or some hackers steal the data from those companies where you have submitted your data (eg:Facebook where all info is there)
what they do is send an email which is linked to their fake page. When you click on it or Login or enter your Bank account no. password etc. Nothing happens
on the screen but these hackers get all your information.
One famous example is Congratulation your have won $500000 in a lucky draw message us your number and address details. This is totally fake no one makes a draw
until you yourself put your name in it and no one is so fool who give you so much money and sends you a mail.
SO DON'T CLICK ON LINKS FROM UNKNOWN CONTACTS.

2. CHECK YOUR URL | DOMAIN YOU ARE ON
Always check your URL the web address I mean. Trusted website have proper links URL.  Fake website have some weird names and weird URL . Such as
https://www.google.com ← this looks like a trusted site. Whereas → http://www.gooogly.com it might look same but still they are differnet.
Even look for proper domain name in URL In simple words the domain name should be proper because other pages URL is different such as
www.facebook.com/images/album/12353.htm ← this looks proper.
Where as www.facelook.com/343/s33/2014/sr-71/images.html ← Although it looks same but it is not that clear or like that specific just understand it that it is
not a trusted site.

3. OPEN THE URL IN SMARTPHONES
Many smartphones are not that vulnerable to virus, spywares so if you feel that a site is suspicious open it first on your smartphones. Iphone would be nice it is very less vulnerable to all this. Specially virus and all the stuff are made to affect computer hence I would suggest to open the link first on your smartphones.

4. VERIFY THE URL BEFORE ANY PAYMENT
Before sharing your sensitive information always look your URL. Its damn important. Sensitive information refers to your bank account , financial informations
debit/credit card numbers etc. Always check the https: ← See to it that there is a 's' at the end of 'https' s stand for secure connection. see that http and
https are two different.

5. IGNORE POP-UPS WINDOWS
If someone is using payment via an popup just completely ignore it. Trusted site do not use such popup windows for payment. Popups do not have border or
url bar so you don't even know whether it is https or http. So just completely ignore it.

6. CHECK OUT FORMAL LANGUAGE
Well thats not one good suggestion but still it might help us. For example. If it says on the site please make the payement Sir / Madam. Well no one uses such
formal language. It just say that make the payment. So sometimes it might also be helpful.

7. DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE.
There are some software or some antivirus that stops you from visiting such sites or warns you. Even browsers like Google Chrome stops you from visiting such
sites. Search for some famous software which avoid all this so go download such softwares.
