Lock Patterns are a very easy and good way to lock your phone. You can open it easily with your right hand or left hand. You just need to know the pattern.
There are some data in your phone which you don't wanna share with other people. And what you do is lock your phone with such pattern lock. And you totally believe that it will be useful. But the fact is there are some common patterns which most of the people keep and other people easily understand it or guess it and they get access to your phone data, your messages, your gallery, emails, your Facebook,Twitter etc. And this can create a big trouble for you.
So here I have brought down some common patterns which people keep and if your pattern is one of it I think you should change it. Hence I took some effort to write about this topic.
The below image is for proper understanding. Further I will be mentioning the dots of patterns so I have numbered them so you can understand exactly which dot or place I am trying to say.
First row(horizontal) contains dots 1,2,3 next row 4,5,6 third row 7,8,9
Column wise (vertical) 1,4,7 2,5,8 3,6,9
Image to refer to while explaining somethings below |
As per the order 1st pattern(image) is most common and later 2nd, 3rd so on
Lock Pattern 1 |
Most of the people have kept this as their lock pattern It is drawn from 3→ 2→ 5→ 8→ 7
This is the simplest form of lock and anyone can try it and unlock it. It tries to show the letter S.
Lock Pattern 2 |
This is the rotated version of the first lock pattern. These locks are mostly kept by left handed people as it becomes easy for them to unlock it. It start from 1→ 4→ 5→ 6→ 9.
These lock are so easy that a kid can even guess it and open it.
Lock Pattern 3 |
The lock pattern which is used for the alphabet ' L '. If the name or surname start from L it is been used. L is also used to show Love. Mostly kept by teens who are in Deep Love Relationship.
Even Left handed people keep it is easily drawn from 1→ 4→ 7→ 8→ 9.
Lock Pattern 4 |
This lock is mostly kept by those people who's name starts with S or their spouse name starts with S. It is also kept so that all the 9 dots are been utilised. In the start it was the most common lock. But with time and people came to know about it. People changed from this lock. But still this is common. It is like the alphabet 'S'. drawn from 3→ 2→ 1→ 4→ 5→ 6→ 9→ 8→ 7
Lock Pattern 5 |
U is the easiest pattern. which is drawn from 1→ 4→ 7→ 8→ 9→ 6→ 3. Easy to remember hence
most people keep this pattern.
Lock Pattern 6 |
The alphabet Z again easy to create, easy to remember so you put this pattern and anyone who watches you drawing this pattern even from far. Will recognize the Z pattern and will open it drawn from 1→ 2→ 3→ 5→ 7→ 8→ 9
Lock Pattern 7 |
The bolt sign Lock pattern. Also denotes S and Also denotes Z. The bolt sign is drawn on the right side and on the left side. Like in the image it is drawn from 3→ 5→ 6→ 8 on the left side it is drawn from 2→ 4→ 5→ 7. Again with the initials of name, surname, spouse name. A bit difficult to guess but common.
Lock Pattern 8 |
This lock pattern is something which I didn't understood what does it signifies or what does it says and why people keep it. Its complicated but it is a common pattern. How it is drawn is 1→ 5→ 4→ 2. Again it can be drawn on the right with 2→ 6→ 5→ 3 or down 4→ 8→ 7→ 5 or 5→ 9→ 8→ 6.
Lock Pattern 9 |
The Letter 'R' is written in these pattern It starts from 7→ 4→ 1→ 2→ 3→ 5→ 9. Again a complicated type bt still it is common. Most of the pattern are based on letters. These is one of it.
Lock Pattern 10 |
The N pattern which is been flipped. Starting from 1→ 4→ 7→ 5→ 3→ 6→ 9. Those who names start from N basically keep this pattern.
Lock Pattern 12 |
The no. 7 is the common pattern it is also used for arrow. Drawn from 1→ 2→ 3→ 5→ 7.
This can be an flip 7 even or arrow drawn in small size with four dots only.
Lock Pattern 13 |
The alphabet C is denoted here. It is also easy to draw and remember . Drawn from 3→ 2→ 1→ 4→ 7→ 8→ 9. Mostly kept for name initials.
Rest of below are based on alphabets
Lock Pattern 14 |
Flipped C. 1→ 2→ 3→ 6→ 9→ 8→ 7
Lock Pattern 15 |
Lock Pattern 16 |
G utilising all the dots. 3→ 2→ 1→ 4→ 7→ 8→ 9→ 6→ 5

Lock Pattern 19 |
Lock Pattern 20 |
Lock Pattern 21 |
Lock Pattern 22 |
Lock Pattern 23 |

Lock Pattern 24 |
One of the most complicated Pattern but a common pattern. starts from 1→ 5→ 4→ 6 or from 2→ 4→ 1→ 5
Lock Pattern 25 |
Tips to Create A Good Pattern :
NEVER KEEP ALPHABET AS YOUR PATTERN:
Most of the people keep alphabet as the pattern locks which is very easy. Keep something design like Do not keep Letters of your name, surname, boy/girl friends name or so. It is very easy to guess. Keep some pattern which you only know and no one else can guess.
REVERSE THE DIRECTION OF DRAWING :
Even if you wish to keep an alphabet as your pattern atleast reverse the direction in which you draw. The direction should be proper in order to unlock the phone. If the direction is different then it becomes difficult to draw. For eg: You draw like 1→ 2→ 3→ 4→ 5→ 6→ 7→ 8→ 9. so reverse it like 9→ 8→ 7→ 6→ 5→ 4→ 3→ 2→ 1 or 9→ 8→ 7→ 4→5→6→3→2→ 1 like this Just don't keep the direction normal. Something different.
DO NOT USE ALL THE DOTS AVAILABLE :
When someone see you using all the dots he can easily guess on the basis of direction and no. of dots and there are some specific patterns which use all the dots. Such as S or G (see image above).
UNTICK ' USE VISIBLE PATTERN ' :
If you know there is an option known as use visible pattern in android phones. ( if you don't know Go in menu → Settings → Location & security → Screen Unlock in that Use visible Pattern )
What this feature is when you draw a pattern when you tick it the pattern can be seen. When you untick this option the pattern cannot be seen what you have drawn on the screen. If you make a mistake then it shows us but when it is right you cannot see anything on the screen.
So this thing is important. Untick the option.
NEVER TELL ANYONE YOUR PATTERN :
It usually happens that we tell our friends, brothers, sister or anyone we trust the pattern. And what happens they tell someone else. And that someone else tell the 4th person and slowly everybody come to know about it. It may be your trusted people but still. You might open the lock and give them the phone. But don't tell them the pattern.
KEEP CHANGING THE PATTERN REGULARLY :
Changing pattern in a month is one of the good things and even reduces the risk. I might suggest it to change weekly but it depends upon you and data . So try to find out new pattern so that you never end up of patterns.
Thats all for these post. Hope it helps you and help you safeguard your personal, important data.
